Ma. Daniela Gomez
Dra. in Biological Sciences
Graduate in Biological Sciences and PhD in Biological Sciences from the National University of Río Cuarto, where I studied habitat use and interspecific competence in Mus musculus in urban areas (download thesis). I am currently an Associate Researcher of CONICET at the Institute of Earth Sciences, Biodiversity and Environment (UNRC-CONICET) and Head of Practical Works of the Department of Natural Sciences of UNRC.
My main professional interest lies in providing basic information to reconcile agricultural production with the conservation of biodiversity in agricultural systems. This through the evaluation and analysis of the responses of small mammal populations to different agricultural practices and to the intensification of land use in agroecosystems in the center-south of the province of Córdoba. Within this topic I have worked particularly in demography with capture-mark-recapture data and in occupation models. Currently, I am working on evaluating the role of small mammals and birds as predators of the most common weed seeds that have developed resistance to herbicides to subsequently determine if they fulfill an ecosystem service and thus propose these species as possible biological controllers.
